BHI Young Scholars Having a Blast at BHI Academy™’s New Summer Program

BHI Academy™ has successfully launched Part 1 of its Summer Enrichment Program. Over Memorial Day weekend, it was standing room-only for our Island Tales Workshop, a maritime literacy experience designed by BHI part-time resident, Sabina Bragg. Dr. Bragg has a PhD in Educational Psychology with a focus on learning, development, and instruction from CUNY Graduate Center in New York City. The focus of her recently published research centers on the positive outcomes of storybook reading to children in non-traditional settings to increase vocabulary. Dr. Bragg holds an MEd in Special Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as a certificate of advanced study in Education Leadership from Hofstra University

The Island Tales Workshops include BHI-focused, sensory-based literacy activities; research-based learning; and literacy crafts and games.
|
BHIA™’s Summer Enrichment Program, a weeklong day camp that runs through the summer, includes the Island Tales Workshop along with more outside activities for young scholars to have fun while improving their reading, vocabulary, and comprehension. Best of all, our summer experience for children is focused on BHI’s unique marine ecology, culture, and habitats.
