Focused on Science, Committed to Stewardship
BHI Academy is a science-focused school dedicated to good stewardship of not only the island–its flora, fauna, and abundant natural resources–but also the planet. That’s why we list Howl at the Moon in our calendar. This free community event celebrates nature and science by inviting citizens to gather on the beach on the night of the full moon each month for a potluck, music, and connection. At BHIA we talk about our fortress, the union of children, parents, teachers, and community. Howl at the Moon is just one of the places where that fortress stands strong.

Bald Head Island Academy is located on an island that relies on ferry transport. Because the ferry can be affected by weather, it’s important to stay up-to-date. Bald Head Island Transportation provides transport from Deep Marina to Bald Head Island and back daily. For the daily schedule and ferry status, visit https://www.baldheadislandferry.com/status/.

The Village of Bald Head Island utilizes an emergency notification system known as CODE RED. Village of Bald Head Island citizens can GO HERE to register to receive emergency messaging and updates about specific events (i.e., hurricanes, tropical storms, etc.). This system will be used in addition to the Village’s Voice, Village website, social media, and media releases to send important messages via phone, email, and text. Registrants can choose which methods of contact they prefer.
